Meet Lion John Reese, PDG
PDG John Reese has been a long time supporter of KidSight and became a Board Member in the summer of 2017. John is a member of the St. Joseph East Side Lions Club in St. Joseph, Missouri. In addition, he is a member of the Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church, St. Joseph Retired School Personnel and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. With over 30 years of experience as an educator and community volunteer, John brings a wealth of knoweldge to our board. Recently, we had a chance to ask him a few questions about being a KidSight board member (see below).
Why are you excited to be a part of KidSight's Board?
"I have been connected to the children's vision screening practically from the first time they asked for volunteers in the 1990's. As a retired teacher, I understand the necessity for a child to be able to see well. This is an excellent program that serves people that not a lot of other services do for free or a small fee."
What skills or knowledge do you bring that will help you as you serve on the board?
"As a teacher, I understand problems that affect children. As a retired director of performing groups, I understand group dynamics."
What do you think makes KidSight unique?
It does a wonderful service for kids.
What have you learned about KidSight that you didn't know before becoming a board member?
"I have watched it for many years and I can't say much has surprised me."
KidSight is lucky to have highly respected business, community and nonprofit leaders from across Missouri to collaborate with staff leadership on our goal of healthy vision for all children. To see a full listing of board members, CLICK HERE.
