KidSight recently hosted its first ever virtual “Show-Me Talent Competition,” and our event sponsors were an integral part of its success. Vision care practices and Lions clubs from across the state offered their support, making this event possible. In the two round competition, we received active involvement and generosity from Leet Eyecare, First Capitol Lions Club, Eyemart Express and Advanced Eyecare.

The first round of the competition was sponsored by Leet Eyecare, who had the honor of announcing the advancing participants in a fun video – you can check it out on our Facebook page! Their active involvement in the show made the event more entertaining for everyone. KidSight appreciates their continued commitment to providing vision care for children in need. Because of their sponsorship, we were able to produce an event that reached thousands of Facebook users across Missouri.

Our second round was sponsored by the First Capitol Lions Club of St. Charles, Missouri. They were compelled to sponsor this event because “Lions have worked on projects designed to prevent blindness, restore eyesight and improve eye health and eye care.” Their club actively reaches out to local communities to provide “help wherever we are needed.” As a result, their devotion to supporting pediatric vision health helped KidSight successfully host two rounds of the “Show-Me Talent Competition.”

This competition was also sponsored by Eyemart Express. They were inspired to support our event because of the “great work that KidSight is doing to promote eye health and corrective vision for kids throughout Missouri.” Eyemart Express strives to improve lives by focusing on “simplifying eye health for families” and ensuring kids are confident in their new glasses so that they can “focus on learning and daily activities.” They have six locations across Missouri, including Columbia, Jefferson City, Joplin, Kansas City and Springfield.  We are thankful for their support and dedication to promoting healthy eyesight in children throughout the community.

Advanced Eyecare was also a sponsor of the talent show. They emphasized the importance of pediatric vision health to their practice, saying that “if we can catch eye issues and promote good eye health practices for our young patients it can make a big difference in improving their vision for decades to come.” Advanced Eyecare has served the greater Kansas City area since 1950, and they support many events in the community that “promote healthy vision in children.”

During such unprecedented times, we shouldn’t lose sight of how important regular eye exams are. In the words of Advanced Eyecare, “healthy vision promotes a strong eye-brain connection which has a significant impact on their ability to learn, socialize, and develop the skills needed to be successful in school.” With school environments changing across America, whether it’s a virtual setting or a socially distanced classroom, healthy eyesight is an integral part of enhancing children’s learning experiences.

KidSight continues our commitment to serving families in Missouri, ensuring that children receive the vision care they need. We’re grateful for the support from our sponsors, who helped make the “Show-Me Talent Competition” a success. The $4,000 raised during this event will ensure that more Missouri children receive a KidSight screening, referral navigation and follow-up care this school year!
